A-B-C, Easy As 1-2-3
Clara has become a counting fiend lately. Not necessarily counting objects with any rhyme or reason (she often starts at four or seven, or counts three lights when there are two) but she seems to really enjoy calling out the numbers. I think we may have this video to blame.
And you’ve already seen her counting on her changing table back in November.
She’s also having fun with letters lately, and even shouts out requests like “do letters!” when we color. She’s really good at identifying frequently used ones like S, O, E and those that are in her name…
… but sometimes Z are called S’s, and Q’s are commonly called Os. Oh well, there’s no rush! It’s just so much fun to watch her soak things up like a sponge. Perhaps she’ll be starting a blog soon, where she’ll only be using certain letters (sample post: “Clara O See So Clara!”). Sounds exciting…
A Rockin’ Rudolph Christmas
Christmas is coming to a close here in Richmond and we had a great day. We’ve got lots of holiday hijinks to share, but here’s a taste of how much fun Clara (along with her cousin John) had. Note: sorry about the skinny iPhone vid, you might want to watch it on full screen.
Clearly the dancing Rudolph doll that my mom has is a big hit with the little kids (it’s motion and sound activated, hence the clapping to get it started). Hope everyone had a great holiday!
Holiday Card Outtakes
By now you’ve probably seen our 2011 holiday card (if not, check it out here).

The picture is actually two shots Photoshopped together, since we’ve pretty much given up on getting a good shot of Clara and Burger together at the same time (unless our definition of “good shot” is Clara grabbing for the blur that is Burger as he runs off). So here’s the original shot of Clara all by her lonesome.

She loved the ribbon, which meant we got lots of good shots to choose from. We selected a good ol’ smiling one because we thought it was basically the epitome of Clara. And we ended up flipping it because it helped Burger and the type fit better on the card. But here are a bunch of others that gave us a good smile too.

Burger, on the other hand, wasn’t quite as versatile. We got his standard “you told me to sit, I did, so why don’t you fork over the treat already” look.

But we opted for this licking-the-lips shot instead (which was actually captured while he was eating said treat). At least he was forever immortalized while enjoying himself.

Happy holidays to you guys! May your days be filled with family, fun, and treats!
