Clara’s Thrift Shop Song
While we were thrifting for our Macklemore Thrift Stop Challenge, Clara decided to come up with her own thrifting-inspired song. Hers isn’t quite radio ready though – the only lyrics I can understand are “pumpkin Halloween” based on two pumpkin ornaments that we found in a Halloween section of the thrift store. And the whole thing is to the tune of “Where Are You Christmas?” from the movie The Grinch, which we’ve had saved on our DVR since December.
Oh, and you can see that this entire scene takes place next to the pirate bed that we found but, sadly, didn’t purchase…

My little sister used to make up songs daily to the tune of “Under the Umbrella Tree” (a popular kids’ show at the time). I wish we’d recorded some of them because they were hilarious (obvs this was before the iPhone era, haha). Clara is the coolest and some day you’ll be really glad you have these videos! :)
SO cute. A girl after my own heart, Christmas songs year round!
We saw that bed on Saturday! I really wanted to buy it for my nephew, but my husband talked me out of it since his room is so small. It was pretty awesome though.
Making your momma proud with those Jersey-style boots! Love it!
I NEED A PIRATE BED!!!
Any chance you’ll share which shop had that gem?!
That was a thrift store called Diversity Thrift here in Richmond.

Saw that last weekend too!! Did you notice the tag? It said something like “lovingly hand crafted by a father.” Precious little DIY thrift.

Best.Apartment.Ever.
The sight of that pirate bed has me lol’ing for reals. Holy cow.
Adorable! My son heard Clara singing and had to join in… Happy Birthday and Santa Clause is Coming to Town. These kids crack me up!
Clara actually carries a tune pretty well! My son is just a little younger (July 2010) and he is no where NEAR that! I’m impressed! Cute AND talented!!
re: The Grinch
Cindy Lou Who is played by Taylor Momsen, which may not mean anything to you if you never watched Gossip Girl. But if you did, your mind might be totally blown right now.

I dig the blog, got a lot from the book, am humored by the dog’s antics, but the kid? She’s too die for cute.
To add to Clara’s thrifting repertoire, listen to our family’s favorite kids’ song about thrifting – seriously! Thrift Shop, by Dan Zanes and Friends.

1. That song was so sweet. Too cute.
2. That “pirate” bed looks viking-ish to me with that thing on the front, lol.
3. Her hair is really starting to fill in and get long!! No more “baby” Clara! sniff.
