Clara Conversations

Convo #1:
Clara (upon spilling yogurt on her highchair): Uh oh, what happened? Oh no! What happened, baby? I wipe it up. Don’t cry. It’s all better now.
Convo #2:
Clara (on her two-year-old visit with the doctor): The doctor is nice. He look in your ears. He look in your mouth. He says “look in your mouth, baby.” And the lady hurt the finger and Clara get a band-aid on the finger.
Convo #3:
Clara: Mommy, daddy’s working. Don’t bobber him.
Convo #4:
Mommy: We have to wear our helmets. Helmets keep our heads safe.
Clara: Wear the helmet. Helmet keeps the head face.
Mommy: It keeps the head SAFE.
Clara: Head face.
Convo #5:
Daddy: Soon we get to watch the Olympics and we can see people running… and swimming…
Clara: …and pouring water!

Honestly you have the sweetest funniest little girl possible. I hope one day to have children like Clara
That kid is so funny! Technically, helmets help you keep your face too. HA!
Haha, it’s true!

Oh, thank you for posting – I really needed a good smile after a long hard day removing wallpaper and glue from my bathroom. Tell Clara thank you for me!
Love wallpaper….in someone else’s house! But, thank you for giving me the courage to decide I couldn’t really ‘break’ my bathoom – it may not end up perfect, but it will be a huge improvement….thanks to Sherry and John’s inspiration.
But, truly, the Clara and Burger posts truly brighten my day.
Aw, so glad. Congrats on all that work!

So precious! My favorite is “Don’t bobber him!” Sassy little thing :)
I love these Clara conversations – they always make me smile! So cute, and it won’t be too long until she always makes perfect sense so it’s great to have the record of these adorable times!
I *love* the Clara Conversation posts! That girl cracks me up!
Please keep these coming, they’re hilarious!
Head face, I’m still laughing.
Adorable! I love these posts. It makes me even more excited to have a baby. And “bobber” sounds like one of those things your family will be saying for years. My family has a bajillion words or phrases one of us said when we were little that we adopted into the family vernacular, like “I got the tensions” for being ornery. My husband is still picking up what some of them mean 3 years into this marriage ha ha.
Haha so funny!

I love the way Clara says both parts of the conversation, as in cleaning up a little mess! Her mind goes at warp speed for sure.
It’s so cute how she tacks on “baby” to the end of certain phrases. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at how precious Clara is!
We say that’s her Austin Powers impression when she does that.

These are so great! Thanks for posting these gems!
Lol… those conversations are adorable! My sons words are limited to ‘shoes’, ‘trees’, ‘ball’, ‘hello’, and ‘yes’. I can’t wait to hear what comes out of his mouth!!
These are some of my favorite posts – Clara cracks me up! I hope you didn’t bobber John after she told you not to! :) I agree about the family vernacular. My brother couldn’t say ‘snack’ when he was little, so my whole family still says ‘jack’ instead. Gotta love kiddie language!
I adore these posts. Language acquisition is such a fun time!
Haha sweetest, funniest little girl! I can almost HEAR her saying that… She has the cutest voice too!
Thanks for sharing this post! I can always count on the “life” section of your blog to perk me up on a rough morning :)
I think I could medal if the Olympics really had a “pouring water” competition.
head face! LOL
it’s great that you “write” these things down – it’s so easy to forget these little moments as they get older!
So cute! I love your Clara posts. You two seem like wonderful parents :)
Who says pouring water can’t be an Olympic sport? I’d watch it! Heck I might even train for it. I don’t mean to brag but this girl can POUR! Maybe Clara can be my assistant, standing at the ready with a hose for re-fills. A towel in case I’m off my game. I can see it.
Haha, I love it! I’d totally watch. And Clara would cheer for you extra loudly!

Too cute!!
Convo # 4 made me laugh out loud. I can just picture her. She is too adorable!
I did. The grandchildren came to visit, and so did some of my frendis, and my offspring sent me a $50 gift certificate for Amazon. So I was well taken care of. Should I admit that I spent the gift certificate finishing my collection of Buffy and buying one season of Angel? I never watch TV shows while they are on; I wait till they are off and somebody insists on showing me the DVDs of one season, and then I decide whether I want to buy the whole thing. That way I don’t get caught up in such a way that I get hysterical if I don’t get home in time to see my TV show, as a certain man who lives not very far away from me like ten feet used to do until I promised I would buy him all the seasons of The Closer! He now has them.Anne
I love convo #4 and 5!! She is so cute! My hubby and I can’t wait for our 10 month old to start talking, those funny stories are priceless!
Best part about this whole entry is that the ad that showed up for me was for helmets, including “half-face” helmets. Creepy Big Brother keeping tabs on Clara’s conversations again ;)
NO way!

I would totally watch water pouring as an Olympic sport. From what height do they pour it? What kind of container are they using to pour the water? Synchronized pouring, anyone?
Hahahahah, someone needs to get this worked out in time for 2016!

Sweet. :) I take it that “the lady hurt the finger” may be referring to a shot?
Yes! Or when they draw blood. She hates that but loves the band-aid! Haha.

Olympic water pouring! A sport I can finally compete in :-D! All her comments are very cute!
Your girl is hilarious. Seriously, these quotes are my favorite posts! My mom kept a journal of quotes from my sisters and I and it is the best thing ever. Never lose them!
I adore kid conversations! The doctor one had me cracking up- that is exactly what happens.
Finally ~ an Olympic sport where I could actually medal ~
POURING WATER
With the majestic “O Canada” playing, as I stand proudly on the podium (chuggin’ my freshly poured water :)
xox
Hahahahahahhah!

I always loved your blog and still do. I thought Clara was such cutie and loved her name and decided to name my first girl if I ever have any…and I DID! We had our first girl this March and it was only name my husband and I liked. :) (shh.. My husband doesn’t know that it’s after a baby girl from someone’s blog)
Haha, I love that! Smooch your Clara from our Clara!

I LOVE HER!! This definitely made my day! “don’t cry” LMBO!! Too funny!!!
When our friend’s daughter was that age, she got a baby laptop for her bay. At her party, all thegam and friends she was playing with it and her grandpa interrupted her and she turned, gave him the 1 minute sign and said “hold on, I’m checking email!” daddy looked at mommy ( sham) and yelled: busted! It’s my all time kid saying the darnedest thing! Clara is too cute and her vocab is impressive!
Such a cutie! I love these posts!
Laughing OUT LOUD to 4 and 5! This is kinda a big deal because I have a little girl the same age as Clara who my mother thinks is the funniest child alive, but to whose humor I guess I’m immune.
Recently my mom was putting my son the bed and I told him goodnight and gave him a kiss. I told him I was going to go fold the towels. He thought I said I was going to go feed the cows. “mommy go feed the cows”. Lol. Love him! Can’t imagine my life without him. What did we do before kids?!
I can’t wait until my LO learns her words =) Right now it’s all vowel sounds and cooing. She says a lot of EE-oh EE-oh EE-oh or sighs very dramatically.
Precious! I’m glad I know what Clara-voice sounds like from the videos you’ve posted. She really likes calling herself/others baby, hm?
I love you guys, but I am having a really hard time searching for old post. I am looking for the cloth diaper post a little while ago and cannot find anything. Then my boyfriend wanted to find an old DIY project could not find it. I used the Google search on your site to and nothing. Just letting you know.
Are you searching on Young House Life? Both of those should be on Young House Love. Hope it helps! You can also click into our Projects page (and go to the Kids section for the diaper post and the section that makes the most sense for the DIY project – they should be there along with a pic to help you track them down). Hope it helps!

I got a pretty funny one from my 2.5 year old the other day… to his dad: “Daddy, I found a booger. It was in my nose.” Because apparently that’s not where you’re supposed to find them. ;)
Hahah! I asked Clara how her tummy felt yesterday (since I’m still so worried she and John will get the stomach bug I had) and she said “the tummy feels good, the bootie has poops in the diaper though.” Ah, kids!

So funny! Sarah’s son reminded me of when my daughter – at about that age – told me she had found “a wack” in her ear. (Gotta hate ear wacks.)
Haha!

Hahaha I love these! Clara conversations may be my favourite bit on Young House Life. What a cutie :-)
As a future speech and language pathologist I absolutely LOVE Clara’s conversations-not only because I can pretend that I’m “studying” while reading your blog, but also because it is fascinating (and super cute) to observe how much her language has changed in the last year. I especially enjoy the subtitled videos.
Thanks for supporting my procrastination habits:)
These totally make me laugh, and gives me hope because while we have a very hilarious and precocious 16 month old, she has yet to utter anything other than Mama and Uh-oh… I’m looking forward to hear more words soon, and in the meantime your clara convos just CRACK ME UP! thank you for sharing them!!
