I Have No Words
Frog pajamas + dress up skirt + furry winter hat + a toddler who is starting to have an opinion about what she wears = trouble.
What are we going to do with this girl?

Oh my! haha, what a combination!
Sign her up for the next season of “Fashion Star” now! :)
Save them for her bigger occasions (graduations, wedding, etc) then create a side show. :)
I have photos of my now 30 year old brother in my dance leotard when he was about 5. The photo was included in a slideshow when he was on homecoming court in high school. They made him put on a tutu and dance in front of the school. Good thing he has a sense of humor!
Ha! He does sound like a good sport.

At least the colors all sort of go together….
OMG!!!! How adorable ~ love it :)
Oh I just love her! She must be so entertaining!
My 4 year old son loves to put together his own outfits, so he usually he has on a superhero suit, rainboots, and ….. a purse. :)Good luck!
Perhaps its a murse? Man bag? ‘Friends’ anyone?
-John
John, I believe Joey and Rachel were very clear it was a unisex bag :)
Bwahahahah, this entire conversation is cracking me up.

You and I sex ;)
Clara is too precious.
Clara looks completely adorable in those pictures! At least when you’re that age people don’t think you’re nuts, just cute.
LOVE it! I think Clara has a great fashion sense. Haha. We’ve got the same thing going on over at our house…my daughter is newly obsessed with Halloween costumes :-) (http://drake26.blogspot.com/2012/05/playing-dress-up.html)
Ha! I can’t believe she just goes about her business with the Blue head on.

When my oldest daughter started dressing herself, I did not want to hurt her self esteem, so I bought large smiley face stickers and wrote on them ” I dressed myself “. She was so proud of her stickers and herself. I saved my pride without hurting my daughter. She is now an adult and has wonderful taste in clothing ( most of them out grow the wild choices ) – as a matter of fact I love shopping with her!!
I left a comment and forgot to click the notify me
she is too cute! and i must know where that hat is from…
Old Navy!
-John
I LOVE this! She is just so stinkin cute :)
That is hands down the most adorable outfit I have ever seen! haha
<3. We can so relate to this in our house! We have a 26 month old who wants to wear her pink polka dot rain boots everywhere!
Cute! Cute! Cute!
Haha that is too cute for words! I’m loving the frog pajamas.
She’s so cute! The best part is they will use anything they can to be creative, my daughter who is only a month younger than Clara has been wearing a straw cowboy hat for a week and refuses to go anywhere without it!
Good luck, there are a lot of good plans for dress up stands with mirrors out there!
Hey, at least it is colour coordinated!
Hey at least she is coordinated in color :) Too adorable!
My sister demanded to dress herself around this age, too, and it wasn’t pretty by any means. It does makes for funny/embarrassing pictures!!
So awesome! Gotta love a girl with a sense for fashion and individuality :)
So cuteeee!!!!! She is like hurry up…. take the pic… haha i love it!
That reminds me of when I was little: my mom said I wouldn’t eat or drink anything unless it was in my Strawberry Shortcake plate, bowl or mug. And if it wasn’t I pitched a fit.
I’m glad to say I grew out of it. I’m sure Clara will too! :)
Adorable. She has a funky-girly style!
ha! i love it! my 2 1/2 year old daughter is the same. somedays i have to explain to the pre-school teacher that it was a “dress yourself day” at home. and as crazy as some of my daughter’s style choices may be, it’s fun to watch her learn to assert herself and grow in her independence!
So adorable! When my little brother got old enough to start picking out his own clothes, he picked his clothes out of the hamper of clean laundry one day and ended up wearing a sweatshirt of mine (I’m 9 years older, so it was comically large on him) and a scrunchy on his wrist. Oh, the things children choose to wear!
she looks awesome! the colours don’t even clash. I say, let her at it. :-)
This is a rockstar!
ummmm…I think you may have a fashion GENIUS in the making! I love her style!!!
I say let her rock it out! My 3 year old went to school the other day in a romper, jean shorts, snow boots, and a sweater. She thought she looked fantastic and I know all too well that feeling great about how you look no matter what you have on doesn’t last too long for girls, so I just let her go with it. Occasionally we will throw in a blue sequined tutu, but I mean there has be limits somewhere right…?
best outfit ever. work it clara!
You’re going to kiss her and hug her and call her George. And continue to foster her fabulous sense of style. Come on, eclectic is in, right?
Haha, it’s totally in! Weird is the new black.

Love it! Kids can get away with the crazy clothes, so we should let them! Do you read Girls Gone Child? Rebecca’s daughter Fable wears the most awesome clothes ever!
I’ve never read it! Sounds hilarious!

Oh my goodness, seriously? I just always thought you successful bloggers “knew” each other?! She’s not DIY, but I highly recommend checking her out!
http://www.girlsgonechild.net/
Her photos and writing are enough to keep coming back. I don’t even have kids and she’s made me cry over some of her beautifully written posts before!
I love it! She’s hilarious!

Love it! I laughed so hard when I saw the first picture that I woke my baby up. Totally worth it! Clara’s a rockstar! Maybe she’ll be on project runway someday. Or ANTM!
My mom always gave us “choices” where she would pick out a couple suitable things and we would choose from them. We always felt like we were making the decision ourselves when really she was secretly deciding for us. “Would you like milk or water with dinner? Would you like green beans or broccoli with dinner? Would you like to wear this shirt or this shirt today?” Etc. :-) She said it worked like a charm.
Haha very smart indeed!

What a cute little fashionista! I guess you guys should be grateful that Clara likes to cover up from neck to toe because when she’s a teenager those outfits could get a whole lot skimpier… :)
Amen!

I am only half joking when I say I think I’ve seen this outfit on a tumblr fashion blog somewhere…
Haha, faux fur is pretty hot right now. Haha.

There’s absolutely a word for this. It’s called AWESOME! So great that she’s learning how to express her tastes and having a blast doing it…and has loving parents who indulge the personal exploration (at least at home…).
So cute!!!! To her credit, she is completely color coordinated.
Have you seen Big Daddy????? My husband calls my son Frankenstein when he dresses himself… Last time it was Star Wars Shirt backwards, Red Shorts & Rain Boots….
Haha, that’s hilarious!
xo,
s
Ahh, nothing to worry about :o) It’s perfectly color-co-ordinated!
Hmmm give her options maybe? You can’t take her out in that. Well you can but people will talk. Hahahhahaha
Haha! My little gal is a week younger than Clara and is quite insistant on purple pants every single day. Isn’t it just amazing to see how quickly they go from infant to opinionated toddler with thier own thoughts and self expression? So cool! Love being a parent.
I used to do the same thing when I was little. Boy the combinations I came up with! I used to want to wear swimsuits & shorts in the winter and my snow boots & scarves in the summer! Good luck with that because now I’m a fashionista shop-a-holic, ha!
Cute! Getting dressed is a battle I gave up a long time ago. When my oldest daughter was about that age, she threw one morning tantrum and I was done. It doesn’t even phase me anymore (she’s 8, her sister is 4 and just learned to tie her shoes…fancy dress, purple halloween socks and scuffed TIED sneakers to school today!). What they wear is why the phrase “pick your battles” was invented!
In about 12 years, she’ll be SO MAD at you that these pictures exist, let alone that they are on the interwebs :)
Haha it’s true! We’re going to give her retroactive veto power (the power to delete them when she’s older if she wants to) – even though my mom never lets me unframe the horrific pics of me that hang all over her house! Hahahaah.
xo,
s
Aww, but if you let her delete them she’ll miss them (and so will you) when she’s out of the teenager stage. Make sure to have backups if you do!
Oh yes, we’ll always keep the backups in albums and frames all over the house! She just gets internet veto power. Haha.
xo,
s
This is beyond adorable. My little Cameron (middle name Clara!!)is six months old and, as much as I don’t want her to grow up, I’m excited for that whole dress up stage. Clara is b-e-a-utiful! :)
Aw, thanks! Love the name Cameron!

Too cute!! My 17 month old has really started to become interested in what she is wearing and usually it never goes together. Most times I don’t know if she dressed herself or if my hubby did lol!
I love it! I’ve never understood why some parents are hesitant to let their child pick their own clothes. I think most people would assume that the child is wearing what he or she wants to and the parents decided to avoid a tantrum. Clara is one stylin’ lady!
