Santa Smackdown
Remember this Santa balloon that surprised Clara on Christmas morning?

Well, it has hung around long after Christmas and Clara’s love of it has only deepened. Well, that and gotten kind of aggressive too. Thanks goodness he’s a durable little balloon!
Only at our house can you watch toddler vs. Santa wrestling matches. Maybe we should stat selling tickets…

So cute! My little girl Ryan has the footy pj’s like Clara’s. And although she was too scared to go visit him she likes to point out “Tanta” whenever she sees him!
clara videos are my faaaaaaave. she is so adorable! :)
This is hysterical and absolutely adorable!
So cute! I’m so impressed with how clearly she talks! You can understand her so well!
Haha, I love it! “He’s flying!”
Santa! I know him!
Seriously, could be be any cuter? It’s going to be a sad day when Santa dies.
She is super cute. And so tall! I can’t believe those legs in her newest monthly photo. I’m like you, Sherry- barely 5’2″ so this gives me hope that my children might tower over me someday. Haha
I know I can’t believe it! My BFF is super tall and her husband is of average height and their daughter is really little. Meanwhile I’m like 8″ shorter than her and my child who is a year younger is almost taller than her daughter! It’s amazing what having a tall hubby can do! Haha.

That Santa balloon is resilient! Looks like Clara loves it! You may have to buy her a Valentine’s Day balloon when santa retires this month!
Noel and Sherry- Here’s a glimpse into the possible future height of your girls. My Dad is 6’1″ and my Mom is 5’3″. I am an adult and my final height is 5’7″ so right in the middle of their heights!.
I am the tallest of my closest girlfriends. My Dad’s family teases me and says I am short though! I like my height because regular length pants are cut for 5’7″ height! :)
Oh man, my mom is 4’11″ so we never thought we’d have a 5’7″ gal in our lineage. That would be amaaaazing!

To add to the fun of various heights in families, my dad is 5’10″, my mom’s 5’11″ (though she looks shorter than him). My brother is 6’3″ (takes after my maternal grandfather), and I’m 5’6″ (take after my paternal great-aunt and would be shorter without long legs from mom’s side of the family). However, my half-sisters from my dad’s first marriage (ex-wife is shorter than me), the oldest is shorter than me, the youngest is 5’8″.
You never know Sherry! My grandma was all of 5’3 barely. My mom was 5’5 and my Dad was an average 5″11. I was 5’8 by 7th or 8th grade. At first I wasn’t crazy about it but now I am so glad I am my height. My husband is 5’11 too and both of our kids are above average in height. My daughter is twelve and is 5’6 pushing 5’7 already. So you never know! Nothing like having your twelve year old look down at you when you are telling her to do something hahaha.
Haha that’s true. I love looking waaay down at my little mom… and then it dawned on me that Clara will do the same thing to me!

I’m the tallest female in blood for generations on either side of the family. I had one great aunt who was also 5’7″ with a dimpled chin like me. The rest are all shorty shorts. My sister is 5’3″ (pushing it) and my mom is about the same. That’s average in our family. When I was about 2-3 I was the height of a 5 year old and they told her I was going to be 5’10″. My dad is only 5’11″. I stopped short at 5’7″ thanks to inheriting the short waist genes. If I had a long waist like my sister I easily would have hit 5’9″.
HAHA!!! Oh that is priceless. It is so funny what kids find amusing. My little guy got a battery powered tractor for Christmas this year, and his favorite thing to do is “push” his older brother around on it…it’s hillarious! He eventually loses his footing, falls, but hangs onto the back of it and gets dragged over the room and laughs hysterically the whole time. lol priceless moments.
TOOOO CUTE!
That IS a durable balloon. Amazing. And Clara is so cute!
I love your blog and my little boy, who is almost 11 months, loves watching the movies of Clara!!! He came racing across the room when I turned this one on! :) She is a cutie with a sunny sweet personality!!
Ps. Thanks for all the cloth diaper info! It wasn’t until I read about them on your blog that I thought, hey maybe I can do this! Now I love them!!!
Aw so glad! Smooches to your boy from my girl!

As cute as this is, what happened when Santa finally pops or deflates too much to fly?
Maybe a heart shape balloon for Valentine’s day should be next?
I love that idea! We’re planning to tell Clara he went back to the North Pole when he finally bites the dust. She has a Christmas video that she watches where Santa does that so hopefully it’ll go over ok! Fingers crossed…

Ha! Maybe she’s starting her “rough and tumble” phase!!
Love her!
P.S. Not sure if your Mac’s will play it, but wanted to share an Isla June video for Clara!

I love John’s commentary in the video. “He’s been grounded.” lol
Haha, that man cracks me up.

My little girl got a big dragonfly balloon for her 1st birthday, 2 years ago.It is still holding up to this day, until her little brother gets to it, which will be soon lol
Wow- that’s resilient!

Ohh yes, these types of balloons last forever. I had one for a birthday, and I had to end up tossing it out! I think I had it for almost a year before I got sick of looking at it.
I gave my husband a big heart balloon for Valentine’s Day last year and it is still hanging out in our kitchen. I’m hoping it makes it to the 14th so I can give it again (like I already have a few times). Knowing my luck it will be on the floor the night of the 13th.
Clara is beyond cute and funny :)
ps Did you cut her hair? It looks different…
Nope, still waiting for it to grow. Haha.

Let me tell you! Long hair on little girls is a pain. My daughter has gorgeous hair that hangs down to her butt. It’s kind of her trade mark. It’s all different colors, but if I had to choose one I would say it’s copper. 1-She is 3 and gets everything under the sun stuck in it. 2- She cries that it hurts before I even touch it with the brush. 3- I have to sit there and actually style it, everyday lol I am so not that person. I am a “throw it up in a ponytail and hope I can get the caulk out of it” kind of girl. It’s beautiful but a lot of work. Oh for just 1 day of not having a hairbrushing battle. My husband and entire family would kill me if I cut it off lol
Haha- the grass is always greener! I can’t wait for Clara to have something for me to brush! Haha.

You might consider framing the flattened balloon & bringing it out & hanging it every year for Christmas :)
Haha- so cute!

My 18 month old LOVED watching Clara hugging Santa! :)
TOO CUTE!! that balloon is adorable too!
Clara is the best!
There is a whole generation of kids growing up watching Clara like how we grew up watching brady bunch etc
My 4 year old son always asks to see videos of “his friend” Clara…and asks when we can go and visit…
Nevermind we live in Australia….. ROFL…..
So Clara has little friends all around the world…..
That’s adorable!

We used to get the boys mylar balloons for their birthdays and after they finally deflated I hung them along the wall in their playroom. It was fun to see them lined up on that one wall and remember each of the birthdays they came from. It was a Disney/Pokemon palooza. :)
Haha, cute!

Clara gets me so pumped for when my 9 month old turns 1-ish. I’m terrified but excited at the same time. What little personalities our little girls have. gotta love em!
That is one tough balloon! My 2yo shares that kind of ‘love’ with our poor 13yo cat. Needless to say puss is unimpressed at being tackled to the floor and laid on, sadly unable to float away.
“What does Santa say?”
“…Ho.”
Hilarious. Your kid is SO cute.
Clara for the lefty grab!
So cute!
What kind of video camera do you use?
We have a Flip HD. Love it!

I love the little Clara photo interludes on Young House Love, but whenever I pop over here and see a video of her, I always think to myself, “MAN. I can’t believe you have a BABY and she’s HUGE!” Not huge as in tall (although I see you’re hoping…), just huge as in not a baby anymore. She’s growing and getting so big! Maybe I’m too used to my (7 month old and 2 month old) nephews.
They grow up so fast! Sniffle.

oh my! this had me cracking up! perfect end to a friday after noon! go get em clara!
I can’t stop laughing! It’s like Santa smackdown lol. She’s just too cute!
a politically correct santa would say, “Lady of the Evening, Lady of the Evening, Lady of the Evening!” ;-)
