Super Sleeper
Sometimes Burger falls asleep post-stretch with his nose right between his paws. We call it his “Superman” pose because his arms are outstretched like he’s flying off to fight a bad guy in his dreams. The guy literally falls asleep mid-stretch to accomplish this look:
Perhaps my shutter is too loud for our slumbering pooch?

This is adorable. My cat does the exact same thing, just on her back. It is absolutely ridiculous-looking.
Awww. My cat Henry likes to lay out with his legs streched out far behind him and his front paws foward like that and we call it the Superman too. So adorable. But he’s picky- he will only do the Superman on hard surfaces (I guess he likes the cold on his belly?)
I love having pets with a personality. They bring so much love and happiness to my life :)
One of our cats does the same thing! The other morning she was sleeping under the cover and only her paws were sticking out – it was adorable!
Awwwwww, my little Chloe does the same thing! I know she’s officially “out” and the radar is turned off when her ears are down. Looks like Burger was partially aware :)
Haha- probably listening for a certain toddler who sneaks up on him from time to time!

Burger is the cutest!! Every pic you post of him cracks me up….the videos starring Burger…I’m usually beside myself.
I have an 85 pound black lab that also is a big fan of the superman pose! The best part is watching him try to stand up after his superman stretch on our hardwood floors… poor guy doesn’t have any traction :)
My dog has the same problem. It’s funny and sad at the same time. I laugh, but then I feel badly for her.

So funny! My cat sleeps just like that.. I guess its a cat thing seeing as everyone else said their cats sleep like that too. Maybe its just an animal thing. They all wish they were a superhero!

My dog also loves the Superman pose. Sleeps that way, especially on the stone floor to cool off her tummy. She will also do that when she gets a greenie, and she will nom nom nom in happiness, holding it between her paws.

Too cute! We have a 9 lb Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix named Atticus Finch and he sleeps curled up in a ball with his back leg covering his eyes. But like Burger he burrows under the blanket before taking his position. He also HAS to be touching me when we sleep at night. If I roll over even slightly he stands up and repositions himself so that he’s pressed against me. It’s sweet and annoying at the same time. lol
First – awesome name. Second – love the mental picture of the ball with back leg over his eyes. Sometimes Burger does one where his back legs are fully extended but the rest of him is curled and he looks like an Olympic diver. Third – Burger is kinda the same about sleeping. Though his more annoying routine is that he fluctuates between being too hot and too cold, so will go in and out of the covers a few times per night.

Our greyhound often sleeps in a ball with his back legs up to his eyeballs as Stefanie mentioned.

I have a 100 lb dalmatian/whippet mix named “Patches”. She loves to sleep on the foot of our bed in her favorite sleeping position which is on her back with her legs straight up in the air.

So dang adorable. Our puggle Oscar is like a whiny toddler when he is sleepy – he literally cries and tries to get in my lap until he finally falls asleep.
He is sooo cute! Our basenji, Auggie, loves to sleep under the covers also. Sometimes he gets hot so he sticks his face or even just his nose out of the covers. LOL I love cuddly puppies :)

I have to tell you..I love your life section as much as the regular DIY posts. We just got our first chi a couple weeks ago. She’s a 3 month old rescue named Violet and probably weighs about a pound. She’s super sweet and playful…and still very “bitey”. I’ve been doing some reading on the breed about training. Burger seems like he’s such a gentleman in every way. Was it very hard to PT him or just train him in general?

He was a really fast potty trainer. For the first few days I never put him down on the floor to wander, he was either eating, sleeping in my lap, or outside on the lawn – where he’d go and then I’d cheer and give him a treat. He loved treats so he learned to go with to the door and wait when he had to go out, and thankfully he has been very good about that ever since! As for not being bitey, we learned to make a little “yelp” noise when he nibbled on us, which supposedly communicated “ouch, that hurts” and stunned him enough to stop him. After about a week of doing that he was done teething on us! We also did two ten week obedience classes with him (he can sit, stay, lie down, roll over, and even do a pretty great “leave it” trick where we hold a treat out in front of his nose and he doesn’t take it until we say “take it!”). Burger is so adorable :) my friend’s dog does the superman pose too except that she’s probably twice or three times as big so less likely to fly away haha :D

That does help and is also really encouraging. I think we’re going to go for the obedience training, too. Violet sends love back to Burger. ;)
So cute. My boyfriend’s chihuahua tends to fall with his tongue hanging out and is often so deeply asleep that you can gently pull it about an inch out of his mouth.
I’m not much for chihuahuas usually, but Burger is definitely the man- I’m a little smitten for him. Our girl (50 lb mutt) does the same kind of pose, but we call it Pancake Dog because she just flattens out completely. Love the furry babies, so glad you guys have kept him such an integral part of the family when his non-furry sister came along so she could enjoy him too!
Ha, Quincy lays like this and I call it is Super Hero pose too. I even sing him a little song – “here he comes to save the day, mighty Quincy’s on the way.”

Yeah, we usually do a little bit of lightening, color adjustment or cropping in Photoshop or iPhoto afterwards. But nothing major!

We actually use Dr. Bronner’s (it’s a green plant-based soap that we water down). We love the almond scented kind (from Target).
