One, Two, Three…
With a little bit of helping getting started, Clara can count her way to 10. And it’s cute. And we’re proud.
Note that this video takes place on her changing table, since it’s one of the few places that we can get her to “perform” for the camera without trying to take it and watch the baby (aka herself) on the screen. So don’t be surprised if you see lots of videos shot here in the future.

Wow, pure cuteness!
What a little smarty pants! My 17 month old can count to three – guess we have more work to do! ;)
What a cutie! Measuring the counters and counting to ten, she’s already a math wiz. :)
Such a smart happy girl :)
GOOD JOB CLARA!!! :)
Umm..I think your daughter is a genius! My almost 17 month old just started putting 2 words together, like “Hi, mommy!” GO Clara!!
Great job! Now in Spanish. :-P
BTW, did she learn her numbers from a song? I hear a bit of a melody to the numbers.
Yes! It’s this song we sing when we get her dressed. The other day she was counting the beans on her plate in song. So cute!

adorable! :)
That’s adorable! Good counting, Clara!
wow..way to count clara!! that’s impressive!
She’s so smart! Keep it up!
Wow!! Very impressive Miss Clara! My daughter is 14 months and everything is still “da-da-da.”
Brilliant! AND she is speaking Dutch in the second try when she says “vier” for 4. Wahoo. Sheer genius!
Hahahahaha, I love it.

vier is German too ;)
Smarty pants! Love it :)
Loving the Clara videos! So so cute!
So cute! And I love how you give her the stern warning about rolling over at the end. She’s a rascal! Enjoy the holidays, J & S :)
Beautiful and smart…I can see she’s a double threat kind of girl. ;-)
So cute! My 18 month old just joined in! We do the counting thing in the morning while I’m doing her hair to get her to sit still.
So cute! And it’s great that she is learning at such an early age. Have you guys thought about home schooling? I could see you being really great at it! :)
We have thought about it a bit but currently lean towards the public school system in our area since its great and she’d get to be with her friends (the two girls who live near us who are her age) and her cousin Emanuel (who also lives nearby).

Aw, you guys! What a bright little button! You can hear so much pride in your voice Sherry.
oh my god! she’s so cute. i can’t believe that she’s talking and learning things so fast. It’s like she just grew up in a blink of an eye. :)
I love it! Now what you need to do is start teaching her big vocabulary words. I said “indentation” at 18 months. People asked if my parents read me the encyclopedia! haha.
Jennifer B.
Haha, I used to say “I’m dehydrated” instead of thirsty. So far Clara has said some pretty great sentences (ex: “hi Santa! I love you Santa! Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas! Buh-bye Santa!” but no super long words yet…

That’s so exciting (and adorable)!!
Wow, that is incredible! I need to get busy teaching my 21 month old more!
LOL at the big vocabulary words. My favorite when I was little was stupendous!
So cute!

She’s edible! :) Adorable, that is.
Smartie pants!
She is amazing. You need to start a second blog called how to train a genius! ;) great job!!
Aha! I need a longer song for my little boy, The Jackson Five’s A-B-C isn’t getting us past 1-2-3.
Clara is such a cutie! Quite achievement keeping an 18 month old on the change table :)
3 Clara videos in one day!!! perfect!
And I will definitely be checking in tomorrow. I even check in on the weekends even though I know you don’t normally post…I am sure I’m not the only one.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Too cute! What a smart cookie. I can see so much of you in her face, Sherry! x
This is amazing! I expect Clara to start reading when she is 3, it wouldn’t suprise me at all! Way to go!
Yeah, I’m pretty sure you’re raising a genius. Perhaps we’re looking at UVA Media Studies major class of ??? (I don’t even what to know what year she’ll graduate college…)
2032 Maybe? Crazy! PS: I just friended Aniko on Facebook.

She is so smart and verbal at such a young age. Can you make some recommendations to other parents out there? I’m sure the reading and playing helps. I have small kiddos too but they weren’t saying nearly as much as Clara is at her age.
I was a pretty early chatterbug too, so I wonder if it’s just an inherited thing? Clara loves when we read to her and she’s really into songs, so we do lots of singing. She learned the alphabet and how to count from songs (we’re on to colors and days of the week now). There’s nothing regimented or pressure-y about it, she just seems to like memorizing and repeating things with some sort of rhythm. Maybe it helps it stick better that way?

Ahh! I can’t believe how fast they grow up. You’ve probably seen this already, but after watching the measuring tape video, I think Clara definitely needs one of these for Christmas:

Cute!

Clara is gorgeous and a genius. I love these little videos, but I have to mutter to myself, “Don’t compare! Don’t compare!” when I watch this. :) My 17 month old son is still saying doggie to refer to pretty much everything.
Aw, we definitely do the same “don’t compare” thing! It took Clara nearly six months longer than Will Bower to walk! I think every kid just has a different order and pace that they go.

My brother didn’t speak as fast as my older sister (who was a chatterbug early on) so mom thought something might be wrong. Then he looked up at her one day and said, “Mumma may I please have a glass of orange juice?”. She almost hit the floor. He was just observing. My dad did the same thing to his mother. First word besides mumma and daddy were full on grammatical sentences. I, as the third child, didn’t peep until I was about 2 since I had parents and two older siblings to do everything for me. I haven’t shut up since.
Haha, so funny!

IMPRESSIVE! Me thinks MIT will be recruiting her shortly!
super cute counting…. but I really like it when you bust out the mom voice to tell her not to roll over! I may have giggled outloud at that!
I think one of the greatest things about having a child is that you sort of become a child too. The littlest things make you so happy, like someone counting to 10. :D I love it! Yesterday my 2 year old said “Mama es good cook” Seriously…kids are the best.
So cute!!

Well look who is counting!
How adorable!
Way to go, Clara! I think I’ve mentioned in a few other comments recently that our baby girl is just a few weeks older than Clara (born April 24) and she has just started counting too! She also loves to sing ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle- although she says “Nickel Nickel,” haha. It has been so fun watching Clara grow since she and our baby are so close with their milestones :)
How cute. Her little voice is adorable. My 8 month old is now clapping. If you don’t clap with him, he will yell at you until you do lol
So smart! I was an early talker too – I copied everything my dad said. It tended to freak people out, though. My parents had a dinner party when I was about two, and I was allowed to come out and say goodnight to everyone before I went to bed. One of the guests asked me what my doll’s name was and I told her, “Tommy.” She thought that was a pretty strange name for a (girl) doll, so I explained that it was short for “Lobotomy.”
Apparently this doll had a really strange expression on her face and I’d heard my dad say it looked like she’d had a lobotomy. And named her that. Fortunately they got the whole thing on video.
Haha, so funny!

love it! go clara! keeping reading, reading, reading! she is a sharp one and can pick up so much by cadence, sentence structure, descriptive, and verb endings…you name it!
My first (now 4) was totally like Clara. Really good at memorizing things and speaking paragraphs by 2. My second (18 months)only puts 2 words together ever so often. At first we thought something was wrong with her because we only had our first child to measure by. Then we slowly caught on that the first was just quick like that and the second normal. It will be interesting to see what your second is like. :)
Very cute. I know what you mean about wanting to see the picture immediately after/during filming.
Check out Samantha’s reaction after being very, very angry and then realizing she’s on camera:
too cute!
what? this is insane! how can she possibly do this at her age?!!!!
y’all are doing something right!!! I’m sending my baby clara’s stay-at-home-dad to your site to pick up some tips :)
Haha the best part is Sherry at the end — “we don’t roll over on the changing table!” Good catch! :)
