I Wanna Rock With You
The other day we caught Clara playing with Sherry’s nearly-killed-her-to-upholster rocking chair. Apparently she, like her mother, is quite attracted to shiny things.
But it appears the excitement quickly got the best of her and she needed a rest. I guess that tissue that she’s holding is subbing in for the traditional “blankie.”
Look, now she’s completely asleep while standing on her tiptoes.
Just kidding, it’s actually just a blink. Still pretty cute though.

By the way (and no this isn’t a typo alert!) I’ve always changed the lyrics to that song you referenced from “I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day” to “I wanna rock and roll all night and part of every day”. I realize it isn’t actually that funny, but it cracks me up to sing it that way!
Bethie–I ALWAYS thought it was that way, too! Then again, I typically sing more lyrics incorrectly than I do correctly!

Awww she’s so adorable! My daughter (now 10) actually used to fall asleep standing up like that when she was about Clara’s age–makes for some pretty cute pictures!
I totally believed you on the “falling asleep” part. My mom has a pic of me at that age where I fell asleep standing at the couch.

My little guy has started to love on all things with his cheek too :) He’ll lay down on the rug and nuzzle it, then the bed or a fuzzy throw blanket. He’s our little texture fiend. He DID also curl up on the sidewalk the other day in the same fashion. I wonder if their cheek is particularly sensitive?
That girl is just too cute. I love all her dresses!
Haha- that’s too funny! Clara has nuzzled the grass but not the sidewalk yet! I’m sure that’s coming though. Haha.

Yup. People’s cheeks are more sensitive than other parts of the body like the hands. That’s why it’s suggested to use your cheek to feel for a fever on your baby’s forehead as opposed to your hand.

What a cutie! It is so special to have the “little things” documented. It will mean so much not only to you, but to her, in the future.
Clara is too cute! My daughter once fell asleep in that position leaning over our coffee table.
So cute! We have a very similar rocker in our living room and our 1 year old is obsessed with it. She squeals when she makes it rock back and forth. what an adorable age they are:)
My daughter used to fall asleep that way at about Clara’s age, too. And I babysit for a boy her age and he falls asleep in his high chair a couple times a week. Those crazy kids. Why can’t my 9 month old just conk out when he’s tired!

It’s in the corner of the office now- not sure how we like it because the legs are so dark though (the file cabinet on the other side of the room is white so it feels kind of heavy)!

OMG! Clara is too adorable! I showed my boyfriend the video of Clara and Burger on Burger’s 5th birthday and I told him that maybe in 5 years (we’re picking up our new puppy in less than 3 weeks) we’ll be able to make a video that is half as cute as yours was! Keep being awesome you guys!

John, you take AMAZING pictures! You too Sherry. :) I would love it if you wrote a post on your photog-skills and steps that you take to capture those sweet moments. Heck, even the “details” shots are clean and crisp. I would love my pics to come out that way.
…in other words, what kind of settings do you use on your camera? Are you shooting in manual or auto mode?
These pictures are actually taken with our new “Nifty Fifty” lens that we got a couple of months ago. It allows us to shoot at a really low aperture (I think these were f/1.8 or something) so I could get a crisp shot i low light, and it gave us that shallow depth of field where Clara’s crisp, but everything else is blurry.
We usually shoot in Aperture (or “A”) mode that allows us to adjust the f-stop and the exposure, and the camera automatically does the shutter speed for us. Since we usually have low light inside, we shoot a lot at a low aperture because it helps prevent blurriness. The regular lens that came with the camera only went down to f/3.5 so the new lens definitely helps us get even sharper images – even when Clara’s moving!

I have pictures if my little sister standing against her pram asleep. She had a big thing for fluffy things, I think se fell asleep snuggling the lambswool in the pram.
Kids fall asleep in hillarious places. I have pictures of me asleep in the laundry on top of towels.

i love clara pics — I just find her so adorable — I think that is because we share a birthday :) please post more videos or her adorable “talking”! How lucky she is to have both Mom and Dad around all day! :)
She always clams up when the camera comes out. We’ll have to hide it in a teddy bear or something to catch her chatting away! Haha.

Wow! She is really starting to look like you, Sherry! My daughter clams up when the camera is on also lol She will be singing or doing something really cute, I turn on the camera and you can hear crickets.
